Scurrying to Martil - An Abode by the Sea

Surprisingly enough by the time I finished posting that we had successfully moved to Tangier in The Travel Hustle: From Morocco to the United Kingdom and Back! we also received notice we would have to vacate that apartment. Amongst some other minor issues the apartment in Tangier had a monthly rent of 4000 Dirhams or about $451. Originally our plan was to split the rent between 4 individuals but this did not come to fruition and so it ended up having to be split up by 3, with Justin and I occupying the smallest of the rooms. We were able to afford the first months rent but when we attempted to renegotiate our rent with our roommate for a new split it was decided it would be best for Justin and I to get our own apartment. We were unable to come up with a financial split that pleased all parties involved.

With that decision being made we started out on a new path to find an apartment within a few days time. Thankfully, I had recently reached out and made a few local friends, as mentioned in my previous post. With their help we landed a new apartment in Martil for much cheaper than what we would had paid for our room in Tangier. We felt if we're occupying the least amount of space in the smallest room we should be paying less than two-thirds the amount of the rent.

Through expanding my online presence and finding ways to sustain myself using my photography, on top of all the moving that has been done, I barely got an opportunity to settle down in Tangier...let alone get many photos.

With that being said I do plan to visit Tangier again in the near future just to get those photos but I will share what I did capture while there.

Though I have not gone out solely for photos - as I like to do - I have captured a few shots in my travels through Martil. In the midst of hundreds of people and through busy markets these images were captured. Beware of the taxis!Martil is a beautiful city, smaller than Tangier and Tetouan, with a  type of similarity to Oued Laou which is also right on the Mediterranean.

Though Justin and I have our own place in Morocco now we are still very close to the Fix the World Project, Removing the Shackles, American Kabuki and The One Network which have taken residence in Restinga and M'Diq, as well our friends in Chefchaouen (Tomas & Alia!) . A family of people connected via the internet trekking the Moroccan landscapes from villages, small towns and large cities, with everything inbetween. A huge thank you to Ayoub for his invaluable assistance with helping us find our new apartment.
